I am actually in Mallaca Malaysia writing this listening to the chinese music in the street.
But this about Singapore, on my first day i went to the sky park at Marina Sands 57 floors up to the infinity pool unfortunately all that could be done was to look on enviously at those lucky enough to be able to afford the S$600 a night price tag as they swam in the amazing pool. However, i did get to put my legs in the jacuzzi but not comparitable but i said i have came up here i want to at least get wet. After that i browsed the Shoppes at Marina Bay but they were all a bit out of my price tag (Prada, D&G) except one the fast food burger joint from korea, i just hope they werent any dog in the burgers!! I then crossed the Helix bridge so named as it is a shaped as a double helices like DNA, see biology is useful! haha Then i walked through the Marina where the chinese had a bit of a party going on for new year to see the Merlion which welcomes visitors to Singapore so named as it is half lion and u guessed it half fish. On the way back to the hotel i witnessed the chinese people burning incense sticks and then racing each other to the temple, i later found this is because the earlier you make your pray for good luck in the year ahead the more likely it is to be granted. For my evening meal i went to little India took me a while to get food as i didnt know what anything was in the end i ordered Massala Rava just becauseit had Massala in haha, it was very nice but best of all i got to eat with my hands :) !!!
On the 4th of Feb i got the MRT for the first time it is a very clean, fast, efficient and cheap subway system. I ventured inro chinatown as this is where my new hostel was located. I ordered fish head soup including the eyes which oddly enough were the nicest bit it took me a whole hour to eat a quarter of a bowl not helped by the fact i was using chopsticks. Later that day i went for a walk to the botanic gardens on route i just missed the public entry into the Istana the presidents house because it was open to public on new year bt closed as i approached so i continued to the gardens which featured many plants from all over the world was very serene and peaceful and also had turtles swimming in the swan lake. I then went to the Singapore flyer on the way back to get a great view of the city from the sky at night.
On my final full day in Singapore i went to Sentosa Island I walked round and chilled on the beach as i had been walking in the wrong direction to which i wanted to head in the blistering heat with my 20 kilo backpack on. I later made it to my destination the segways fun but only lasted 5mins but cant complain for about 6 pounds. Unfortunately when i headed off Sentosa Island i took one break too many at the crane (a weird crane with a head ) and i got sunburnt making carriying my bag even harder eventually i found accommodation after 7 hours lugging me back around i duly fell asleep at 7/8 pm haha.
Sunday I walked around aimlessly for about an hour then found the golden mile complex where the coaches are located i then purchased a ticket to Mallaca Malaysia for 25 singapore dollars and set off for Malaysia. Find out about that in my next blog!!
