After arriving in Brussels after three weeks in sunny and psychotic South of France, I went into an all time low, here is a short summary of my first experiences here.
Alone and friendless, I took the brave steps of getting out into this big bad city and hopped on the first metro to wherever I recognised first, this happened to be Arts-Loi or Kunst-Wet in Flemish. And yes. Those of you who have dirty minds or are inclined to pick up on these innuendos or rather 'similarities' would eventually notice that many Flemish words end up looking dodgy, from an Englishman's perspective anyway.
A week spent on my own, exploring the Grand Place, Delirium, the Atomium, Kinepolis (big cinema, massive, in fact) Parc Cinquantenaire, the European Commission and the park of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre; it was time for me to start working in the café.
Attending three times a week, three hours a week, a language school, to try and learn some French while I had the time. Started going to home group and church and working has left me with little time to do anything else other than have Monday mornings free for washing and late Sunday afternoons for exploring. My life is just full of hard work!
