Over the last few days Emily and I have visited Freemantle, been swimming at Cottesloe, booked our Greyhound tickets, and been to Scarbrough! Scarborough was absolutely beautiful and it was a really sunny day. When Emily went to work I walked back - it took me 3 hours but was nice and peaceful, and I found the dog beach the Lonely Planet talks about! I made it back in time for a lovely sunset and an ice cream :)
Freemantle is a harbour town that has docks (like a warmer, tidier Wallsend by the sea) and a market at weekends which we walked around. There was a lot of street theatre on, including a leather-clad punk man who called himself "The Bad Piper" and totally rocked out while playing his bag pipes! I went in the supermarket at one point and the lad at the checkout serving me was from Wallsend! Crazy crazy... We went to see The Dark Knight in the evening, which was really good, but not probably not a film I want to see ever ever again! I can't wait for High School Musical 3 though!
On Sunday we went boogieboarding in Cottesloe - the ocean (hah, it's not a sea, it's an ocean!) was quite cold and the beach is on a steep slope down to the water, so it's easy to suddenly be in quite deep. That was a lovely morning, and then that evening I went for a walk at sunset, which is when I saw the posh houses. Crikey, there's some even lovelier ones in Scarborough!
Monday was they day when we sorted some stuff out in Perth, and then I walked down to the river while Ems was at work. Perth is quite a small city, and I like that because I don't feel squashed and no one's really in a rush. Back at the hostel our room is quite full at the moment, with a German, a Canadian, a Scottish girl and three English girls. It seems to be working out quite well so far. The rest of the week we plan to spend cycling around Perth and on a day trip to Rottnest Island, to see Quokas and there's the slightest chance we might see a humpback whale!
I have attempted to upload some photos - I can't find my camera cable so I put my card into Emily's camera to upload them so I am not sure how well they have worked out. Tonight I have the exciting task of laundry!!!
