I only have two nights left in New Zealand. Time has absolutley flown by, and it all seems a bit of a blur at times, because we've only been spending one night in places as there isn't much to do - sometimes the bus just stops overnight to break up the journey. After Wanaka I went to Queenstown for three nights. It's a small town with a very lively atmosphere in amongst beautiful mountains (called The Remarkables) and I really enjoyed being there. I walked up to the top of the Queenstown Hill Track and could see mountains all the way around - they were absolutely stunning. One night we went out to a bar that serves coctails in teapots, which was so much fun :)
After Queenstown I stopped in Dunedin for one night. Its name means "Edinburgh of the South" and it has lots of Scottish influences in it. The main street is Prince's Street and it's a lovely little city. I spent the day on a wildlife tour and saw Royal Albatrosses, yellow-eyed penguins coming out of the water at dusk, sea lions and fur seals, which was lovely.
The next day I caught the bus to Lake Tekapo, which was a long day on the bus. We started off by stopping at the steepest street in the world, which was knackering, and we also saw Mt. Cook on the way up. The views on the way up to Tekapo were beautiful - lots of mountains and sheep. In Tekapo there wasn't much to do so we went ice-skating, and I didn't fall over once :) I even went out into the middle of the rink, oh yes.
So now I am in Christchurch. It's a nice town with lots of British references - I just walked along the river Avon :) I fly to Auckland tomorrow and then Fiji on Friday.
