I went to the Blue Mountains on Monday, on a tour. The weather was still rubbish but it was the best forcast for my last few days in Sydney. Apart from today - it was raining this morning but the sun was out just now. Anyway, it was a lovely day and it was clear at times so I could see the Blue Mountains. They look blue because of the the eucalyptus oil evaporating off the trees. I think.
We went past the Olympic Park on the way, which is still used for sports things and concerts too. The Olympic Village is now residential. I really liked looking round it - it was quite impressive and now I'm excited for 2012!
We got some good views from a lookout, but then it started to rain and the whole area got very misty and everything disappeared! Everytime we got anywhere near the 3 sisters (the three peaks in the photo) they disappeared behind the mist, but finally it cleared up and we got to see them.
We saw a few waterfalls too, and our guide got very excited because there were some he hadn't seen before due to lack of rain. Some of them were taller than Nigara Falls and really good. On the way back our guide dropped us off at a ferry stop and we got the ferry back to Circular Quay which was lovely.
So my flight to Alice Springs is tomorrow and I am pretty much packed and ready to go. I'm really excited to get out there and will update this again when I can.
