I went to the Sydney opera house on Wednesday! My Christmas present from my parents and Michael and Sarah was two tickets to see Rolf Harris in the playhouse in the opera house. I went with Bella, my roommate, and we both really enjoyed it. That man is such a legend! He came on singing and didn't stop, except when he was sat in a chair talking about his life. It was so interesting listening to him and everyone was singing along with him. He played the accordion, and the didgeridoo, and the Aboriginal clap sticks, and his wobble board! He looked so sweet standing on the stage with his band (the same band he had in the 70s!) and his wobble board!
There were loads of families there whose children had brought along mini wobble boards, and also elderly couples who sat nodding along every time Rolf mentioned something from the 1940s. Bless 'em! He sang so many songs - "Tie me kangaroo down, sport" and "Jake the peg" (which is so much fun to watch!), "Goodness gracious me" "Stairway to heaven" and "If I were a rich man" and so many more, and he engaged with the audience a lot. Absolute legend!
I was at work again on Thursday, at a different centre, and am no longer grossed out by nappies. Result! It was a good day and I really enjoyed it.
Last night I went to St. Mary's Roman Catholic cathedral with my roommate Natisse for the carol service. It was lovely. They had a massive combined choir and sang so much lovely music. And the descants are the same ones as at home which absolutely made my day and gave me goosebumps :)
After the service we walked along Macquarie Street where all the historic buildings are. At night in the Christmas period they light up the buildings with decorations and Christmas scenes - it's really impressive and I've put some pictures up.
