It's been a while since I've written on here, but everything is plodding on. I've been across to the north shore of Sydney harbour and walked back over the harbour bridge, and been to some parks and also out to the coast, which was beautiful. From the headland you can see the sea on one side, and back to the city on the other, which is lovely. The climate varies so much here - on Friday it was chucking it down and it was 18 degrees, while on Saturday it was bright sunshine, and it got up to 34 degrees. Crazy.
I was working a ten hour shift in a corporate daycare centre yesterday, in the toddler room. It was hard work but fun, and I learned a lot, including a song about a train that has just been going round and round and around my head all day! And here, for your entertainment, is the Australian version of Jingle Bells...
"Dashing through the bush in a rusty Holden ute,
Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot,
Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs,
It's summer time and I am in my singlet, shorts and thongs.
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summer's day.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute.
Engines getting hot, dodge the kangaroos,
Swaggy climbs aboard, he is welcome too.
All the family's there, sitting by the pool, Christmas day the Aussie way, by the barbecue.
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summer's day.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute.
Come the afternoon, Grandpa has a doze,
The kids and uncle Bruce are swimming in their clothes,
The time's come round to go, we take a family snap,
Then pack the car and all shoot through
Before the washing up.
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summer's day.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden ute."
