Hello all! I hope this finds you all well and making the most of the bank holiday weekend.
We arrived here in smoggy bangkok yesterday eve. I managed to sleep for most of the flight which was great at the time but not so much when I lay awake in the wee hours! Place we're staying at is pretty nice. Even has a pool which cant be bad.
Today was spent trekking round bangkok (asthma pump in hand!) and included a boat trip where we managed to get soaked by the dirtiest water possible consequently staining our clothes and making the river cam look like a natural spring! From there we found the grand palace that was closed for Buddha day, despite the biggest buddha temple being closed due to flash flooding after a torrential downpour at lunchtime! We got on a tuk tuk and wound our way throught the streets to see the lucky buddha (which is only open to the public one day a year apparently) and things picked up! Viewed a few more buddhas, close to 30 if im going to be precise! Then got a little lost as all the little side roads looked the same, but worry not my friends we found another friendly tuk tuk man who led us back into the dense smog.
Just had a great curry and watching premiership football so feel right at home. The bar at the guest house also has pics of Chels adorning its walls so really isnt bad at all. We catch the bus of fun at 6.30 in the morn to go over to Cambodia for a few days to see the Ankor Wat ruins then back here for the new year before we leave the hussle and bustle for more exotic scenery and unspoilt beaches.
Will update more in a few days and hopefully manage to get pics on too.
