Well after the long bumpy bus ride back we arrived in Bangkok again, this time in the plush accommodation of a youth hostel. Sorry did i say plush? No it was a dive. Pokey little room unpleasant bathroom and a troop of ants, however we did have our 1st hot shower of the trip there so it was some consolation.
We went out that night to Ko San Road where all the lively activity of the city seems to occur. It was also thai new year which involves mass water throwing and coating each others faces in flour paste. Most people seemed to make a bee line for Amy and I so we were constantly soaked and felt like our faces were cracking with the dried paste. It didnt appear to have the rejuvinating qualities of a face mask which we had hoped for either. I made friends with a 4yr old who would only paint me and shoot me with his water gun much to the amusement of others. I also had a copper try it on. Amy did best though, she had a woman with 3 teeth in love with her. Think she drew the short straw there!
We also met 2 irish lads that night who provided most the entertainment including being chased by a pack of rats down the road and befriending randoms on the roadside and drinking their putrid whisky.
A few more days of being soaked and taking in the grand sites of the royal palace, and we were on our overnight bus to Koh Phangan...
