We left Phi Phi at 9am, boarded and over crowded ferry for 3hrs having to sit out on the deck, which really wouldnt have been bad if it wasnt raining. HARD!
So anyways, the connections to the buses were smooth and we made our way through Malaysia. We spent 5 hrs waiting for a connection at 2am though watching the tramps around us snooze happily whilst we batted away the mossies and kept our feet up away from the hideous rats that scurried by frequently! We then stayed for a night in Kuala Lumpar which was a great city for shopping ;) then onto Singapore.
This ride was fairly uneventful. Id been very clever and noted down ddresses of a few hostels so we could check them out when we arrived, however when it came to check them out they were non existant (Nb dont use Hostel bookers.com!). We got into a hotel that seemed a little seedy so headed down to the quay straight away for a bite to eat. Had an amazing dinner. Perhaps the fact that it wasnt rice of noodles had something to do with it, but it really was good! We then went for a cocktail, feeling we'd need dutch courage to return to our lodgings. There we met some aussie naval guys who forced me to go on one of the bungy ball things on the riverside. I thought it was a great idea til i actually got strapped in! Ended up in the Ministry of sound busting out some shapes and had a really good night, despite looking rough in what we'd had on to travel in all day. A few drinks and it was all forgotten!
The next few days were spent wandering the city and finding better accom. Had to go a little up market and get a proper hotel but it was nice and central so wasnt really a problem. Time was spent shopping (window of course), eating and relaxing, although we were the good tourists too seeing all the sites and taking a 'bum' boat up the river. Also spent a day with one of Mums friends who'd moved over there so it was nice to have a little home comfort amongst the chaos!
We went for a singapore sling in raffles. Tasted amazing. They had all peanuts along the bar, shells to just be chucked on the floor, and a really good live band so we made a night out of it. Had to be done!
Singapore really was a vibrant city with a great buzz, really liked the place. Had a bit of everything. (excuse the cliche!)
