(Geordie accent) Day 1 in the Big Singapore City
Marc's bag goes to Melbourne.....shame he's in Singapore
Hello from Singapore!! after a really good flight we got to Singapore about 6pm passed through the Swine flu detection and a sign awaiting the arrival of Sebastian Coe to the baggage collection!! waiting there, Darrens back came round whislt we joked about the disappearance of mine! later to find that it actually wasnt comming off the plane! A trip to quantas resulted in them giving me 100 dollars and a bag containing shower gel and toothpaste, as well as some very sexy grey quantas pjs (picture to follow its amusing)
Already dark and raining but really hot, we got a taxi to the hostel we we dunped darrens bag and headed out to Little India, that was crazy! really busy we wondered round, got some onion bhagi burger and i made my first purchases some strange 3 dollare towel and 2 dollar flip flops. We then found our way out of little india and sussed out a bit more of the city before going back to the hostel.
Early start and breakfast we found orchard road which is about 500 trafford centres all together, (loads of M&S nearly bought you a present eds) i ironically ended up in topman where i got a pair of shorts and a tshirt as it was a bit warm. I was also hounded by a camera seller who sold Darren a camera at 'morning morning price' he was trying to sell me a wide angled lens which i didnt buy . (it seemed good though eds we need to discuss) we had some noddles for lunch then went to see some of the recommended sights, the Merlion, the espalande theatre which is a really cool building, found Raffles and views of the city...o and a brilliant shop called Fook Hing Trading, which did amuse us and result in a photo. After all the walking we headed back to the hostel chilled out for a bit before food in the evening, and a call from Quantas saying my bag has been found collecting some serious airmiles and was on its way back (it arrived at 4am) we then stumbled on a funny German guy called Peter who turned up in our dorm, although hes been asleep for about 15hours.
After an emotional 7am reunion with my bag I'm sat writing this as there is an end of the world storm going on outside, but we'll venture out and Night safari tonight
