So, it's currently 6pm on the eve of our departure. Anne has been sorting the last bits and bobs whilst I have been for a Nando's with my mum and aunt for a final feast before I leave (and now I am faffing about on this instead of doing more important tasks).
It has been a rather intense last few days. Both Anne and I left our respective workplaces on Friday of last week and so we've been able to dedicate more time to completing the final preparations. Tuesday was a rather full-on shopping day and yesterday was spent transporting our treasured belongings to my dad's for storing.
I think the weirdest thing for me is saying goodbye to friends and family and knowing that I'm not going to see them for a good year or two. Emotions are most definitely off the scale at this point. I've just read something from my little sister on Facebook which brought a slight tear to the eye.
Anyhow, I still have things to do this evening (including reading 45 pages of Alan Partridge's autobiography so that I can hand it over to Martin, as despite it being pure gold, it really is to bulky to carry with me). However, first things first - time for a cold beer.
