Unfortunately, due to the times of our flights, we only had 20 hours to sample Singapore. After arriving at the very plush Changi Airport, we got the MRT (singapore's under/overground train) to Clark Quay - one of the most central and stylish parts of Singapore. Our hostel was based on the fourth floor of a tall building housing various businesses. We paid £30 each for a bunk bed and free breakfast. This was the cheapest we could find in Singapore! We headed out immediately to check out as much as possible. After a quick lunch and a couple of beers by the river, we wondered around some local shops and walked around admiring the skyscrapers. Our evening started with a Singapore sling at Raffle's hotel. This is the home of the original Singapore sling where you are given free monkey nuts to eat whilst you drink. It is tradition to throw the shells on the floor so the whole bar is covered in them. After this, we wondered around the esplanade area, looked in more cute boutique shops and saw one of singapore's main music and theatre venues. Time got ahead of us and before we knew it, it was too late to find a fancy restaurant as we had planned so we ended up having a burger king for dinner! The next morning, we awoke early to catch our flight onto Bali.
