I'm here! I arrived safe and sound in Accra to a a sweltering heat of 28C (at 10pm!!) and then was treated to a massive rain storm on my first night! I have spent the last few days in the village of Kokrobite (just outside the capital) at a beautiful backpackers hostel on the beach called Big Millys, just been acclimatising to the weather, food and Ghanaian life (which is slow!)! It has been a perfect bridge for me between Europe and Africa, as I've met lots of fellow volunteers and locals. I've had my first djembes lessons, been in the warm sea, seen some traditional music and dance, and sampled some lovely local food (fresh cocnuts and pineapples, yum!). My highlight so far was dancing on Saturday night for 4 hours on the beach to a live reggae band! My partner on the dancefloor was an elderly Rasta with the biggest smile I've ever seen! The Ghanaians are such welcoming people, very warm and relaxed. I feel lucky to be here. Anyway, I am now waiting for a bus to Takoradi which will be my permanent base for the duration of my stay, so my work at the Music School will start soon! Really looking forward to getting into the swing of things. Thanks to everyone who has posted meesages, it's really lovely to hear from you. Till next time.... bye!
