Arrived in Kalbarri, wasn't much camping available. It seemed a very popular town. There was much more to do here but only stayed for 2 nights. I wanted to stay an extra night so that I could go whale watching for $80, but that meant rushing back down south again in time for our training at our farm work. So skipped it. Although we did go to Kalbarri National Park which was really nice. Smaller version of the Grand Canyon and it was nice to do some hardcore trekking. We even tried to walk along this river via the rocks but it got too tight and difficult to go any further. Danny couldn't be arsed to climb or walk back, and so he decided to swim back. Very brave, I did remind where he was and that there tends be creatures that love the taste of humans. Worst part of camping is you can't eat properly, all we have eaten is carbs. Almond spread and bread gets very sickly.
On our way out of Kalbarri we stopped off at Red Bluff cliff point. Within the space of 10 minutes of being there, I saw 2 Kangaroos, some sort of weird looking sheep and a humpback whale. I love the wild life out here, although I can't get good pictures but that's not what it's about. As at least I don't have to go to a zoo to see them. The sun is much stronger here. Even though it's only been 27 degrees, which normally I can withstand, but not this time. I burnt my face and shoulders, I had to buy suncream, one with fly repellent. As the flies out here are most annoying, they just target your ears. Pisses me right off. I need a Australian hat with dongles to keep the flies at bay. The flies were the worst when we saw the Pink Lake in Port Gregory on our way out of Kalbarri, the flies attacked us. We could barely stand there and take a picture because about 10-20 flies would be attacking your head.
