Ometepe Island in Nicaragua is the largest freshwater island in Central America and is the only island in the world with two volcanoes on it. We hired two bikes, which me and Kyle drove, as we were more experienced with bikes than the other two. We went to a 135m high waterfall on the volcano which was pretty epic. However the water was freezing cold up there and it started raining. Didn’t stay up there long. The roads towards this waterfall was awful. Should of really hired the mountain bikes or squad bikes but they were too expensive. Me and Kyle managed it though, as were pretty much pros at driving scooters. It was such a long and tough drive, so much concentration. On the way back, we drove past this local man with his trousers down his ankles, masturbating on the road. I know this place is a rural area but jheez, does he have to do that in broad daylight for everyone to see. I think the guy was tapped in the head, must be. We headed to the coast to find some lunch, as it was a good 6 hours since we last eaten. Afterwards, we went to this natural water springs. Which was almost like a nice hotel swimming pool. It was nice but was located within a woodland area so there was no sun. We left early to head to this lagoon. However, on our way to the lagoon it started raining. When I mean raining, I mean torrential rain, and we was on scooters. The rain hurt my face, body and hands. Luckily I was already in my swim shorts. But we drove for 40 minutes in torrential rain because we knew it would rain for a long time. Plus none of us had anything warm to put on. So we just ploughed through to get back to the hostel.
Our last day on Ometepe, we just chilled at the hostel, played cards, watched a movie and bought some beers and snacks. Me and Nic did have the best burrito and salad at this restaurant, more expensive but worth it.
