Hello!!
Well we have now left Bangkok and arrived safely in Chiang Mai.
Our last night in Bangkok was very eventful and involved the usual chaos. We caught a taxi to the Patpong area and almost ended up in the Bangkok Hilton en route. The Thai police didn't take too kindly to Steve taking off his seatbelt in a moving vahicle and proceeded to pull us over and clamp the taxi. A good 30 mins later and we were on our way again - it's amazing that 500 baht can buy your freedom!!!
Patpong was eventful, filled with Lady Boys, offers of 'Ping Pong' and of course karaoke!! As you can imagine - we were right at home!!
The following day we had the hangover from hell!! Sal was kind enough to wake us up, pack our bags and get us to the airport to catch the flight to Chiang Mai.
Northern Thailand is really beautiful and a breath of fresh air from all the chaos and commotion of Bangkok. Las night we went to the night market where we haggled over 7 pence - but felt that we had a bargain! We then headed to the Thai boxing which was fantastic! Having seen their bodies, Steve and I have decided to take up Thai Boxing (miracles do happen).
Today was spent going round 3 of the 300 Temples that Chiang Mai has to offer (we thought we would just do the highlights) followed by a trip to the Foreign Cemetery (morbid I know) and lastly a visit to the Elephants (by far our most favourite part).
Tonight we are heading out for a few 'conservative' drinks in Chiang Mai and tomorrow we head further North to Pai.
Hope everyone is well at home.....
Bye for now
Jon and Steve x
