Hi Everyone,
Well after a fab and relaxing week in Bali (filled with beaches, massages at Bonita's, lunching in the Hyatt, Water Skiing and bartering in shops), then an exciting flight through some thunder clouds.....we are now in Sunny Singapore. This is such a beautiful, clean and amazing city - the shopping is out of this world!!
First stop yesterday was a trip to the doctors!! Steve has kindly passed his stomach bug to me - so we were both running to the loo every 5 mins!! We found a great doctor on Orchard Road - who seems to have given us a miracle cure (fingers crossed). Steve has asked me to let everyone know that he is feeling better. Apparently my rendition of 'I was climbing up a ladder when I heard a big splatter - diarrohea' wasn't very sympathetic!!
Following the doctors, we spent the rest of yesterday afternoon on Orchard Road and spent a small fortune being good to ourselves. I have convinced myself that I need a new wardrobe for our trip to Dubai in in June!!
We then popped back to the hotel for a quick change, then headed to Raffles Long Bar for a Singapore Sling (or 2)............followed by dinner on the 70th Floor of the Swissotel overlooking the harbour, CBD etc.
We are staying in China town, which is amazing - especially because it is coming up to Chinese New Year. There are beautiful lights, sound of firecrackers and sights of red lanterns everywhere - just so much hustle and bustle. I have decided that I want to decorate our new house in an Oriental theme.....
We have found some great bars and ended up in the A-list place to be on the first night; filled with Actors, Singers, Movie Stars etc. (felt right at home)
This morning we went to the Chinese Heritage Museum, followed by a fab riverside lunch at Clarke Quay, then a cruise along the river to take in some wonderful sights (Skyline, Raffles Landing Place, Merlion etc.)
We then decided it would be a good idea to catch the cable car across the harbour to Sentosa in gale force winds..........Needless to say there was a lot of screaming on the way across and on the way back. The best bit was when someone pushed the emergency button and all of the cars came to a grinding halt 2000 ft above the harbour!! After 10 mins of swaying around in the wind waiting to plummet to our death and we were on our way again (,y hands are still shaking). Luckily we had both taken our immodium - so there were no minor incidents!!
Tonight we are heading to Little India and tomorrow's theme is 'shop til you drop' !!
On Wednesday we are heading across to KL in Malaysia - so will write with some more news from there........
Bye for now
Jon and Steve xx
