Postcard of Cairns and Barrier Reef - Written in Alice Springs 

Well, we left Melbourne having a great time and headed North to a lovely resort where we have had a nice, relaxing time. We met some great people there, had good food and seen the amazing Great Barrier Reef.

Having a hired a car for our week there (Thelma and Louise style), we were also lucky enough to spend some time in the Rainforest. It was a fantastic experience (even though we were slightly hungover......). Finally we managed to see a small Waterfall that actually had some water in it. Having now been quite a few places, we have learnt how serious drought can be and the many waterfalls we have seen have been completely bone dry - in Thailand and Australia.

To say that it was strange to see a black and yellow snake sleeping in a tree is an understatement and I have started to realise what a wimp Jonathan is when it comes to some little animals!

For HLF people - I have made friends with someone who is taking a sabbatical from DCMS. He used to know Cynthia Fletcher. You should all be thankful that our licence has been renewed. I think he thought that Jonathan and I were a bit crazy (.... he hasn't been back int ouch with us since he left......!!). It's such a small world!

We are now in Alice Springs which is yet another culture shock. There is a very large aborignal community here and it is interesting to see a very diverse and different community go about their business, As the Thai's would say... 'same same, but different'.

Tomorrow we have a very early start and head to the Kings Canyon and camp overnight at Uluru (Ayers Rock) which we are VERY excited about.

For those of you who were hoping of more glamour and drag queen pictures, you may be disappointed....., but interested to know that Jonathan has purchased a Dame Edna Everage wig and glasses (we went to see Dame Edna....Back with a Vengence on our last night in Melbourne).
