hiya, hope your all doing ok.
weve had another fun week in and around tokyo so let me tell all. we started off the week on monday by going to an art gallery displaying the work of yoko ono (john lennons ex wife), called colours of the globe. it was an interactive gallery so we had to draw on a picture, which other people had drawn on. and then there were globes there and....er....i think holly appreciated the art side of it more, but it was fun anyway.
We did more cultural stuff that week and went to the national museum, which is in ueno. There was alot of cool things so see there like samurai swords, japanese art, and traditional sculptures , and once again it filled up most of the day for about £3 each. bargain.
On wednesday we took a break from museums and art and headed to "electric town" where all the cheap electronice were. I had a headache in a bout 5 minutes from all the flashing lights and people shouting and music playing etc etc but it was quiet a sight. We were informed of a nearby street full of music shops so thought that would be the best place to find a cheap acoustic guitar. I picked one up for about £70 with a case and spare strings and a book etc etc and it sounds pretty good too. Already had a few jams in the kitchen with the other guys in the house. nice.
Before we knew it it was the weekend again, so we invited over a japanese guy we met at the party last week, to see gaijin house for the first time. we decided to have a few drinks at home which, as always, ended up with loads of random people round and a bit of a party going on. we went to a british pub later on called hub because i really wanted a proper full pint of lager, which is where we randomly bumped into a few japanese surfers. cant remember how we got talking to them but they kindly offered to take us surfing on sunday to chiba, and i politley accepted the offer. awesome.
So sunday was a really nice day. The surfers were really cool people and despite the language barrier, we had alot of fun. They lent us boards and wetsuits and wouldnt even accept money for petrol. Chiba is a 2-3 hour drive east of tokyo and one of the best places to surf in japan. The surf was pretty good, 3 foot, cleanish, and offshore, and despite the crowded conditions it was nice to be in the water again. We could only stay in for a short while though because despite the water being warm, with the wind and cold air temperature combined hypothermia set in pretty quick (that a joke to all worried parents). Still, its random days like that, which ill always remember.
so that all for now i think. dont forget to check the pics and ill try get some videos up too soon.
bye bye
