Today we booked to some activities on the main land including Atv tour and JetSki tour around the island.
After breakfast we get ourselves ready to be collected at 11.45 by our tour guides. Unexpectedly they collect us on a JetSki to take us to where the tour will start.
Michael and I share a JetSki and get going, Michael struggles a little to keep the JetSki straight and we wobble all over the place. About half way there the instructor stop us, and I change over to his JetSki to make it easier for Michael to handle his. Having been my first time on a JetSki, I hang on for dear life, but enjoy the ride. The jet skis get to a max speed of about 46km on the way over.
We arrive at the tour base where we change over to start on the ATV tour. We are joined by 4 other tourists, and I'm surprised at how nice the ATV's are, they are much nicer than the ones we hired in Moorea last time, complete with back rests and handles for the passenger. We head to 2 separate lookouts on the mountain and our guide kindly take our photo as I didn't bring my camera due to the JetSki's. The scenery is stunning, and the ride with the fresh air is amazing, but the Sun is scorching hot.
We then head to our jet ski tour, which is just us and a couple of French ladies.
We tour around the island, making a stop to have a break, and a second stop where we get off the JetSki's and have some fruit after our tour guide Mana prepares some fresh coconut, bananas and grapefruit. The fresh convict is shaved and is delicious with the sweet banana. We spend around 30 mins or so on the island talking and eating fruit while around 5 local dogs come to hang out with us.
We get back on the JetSki and head back to base enjoying the views. Our guide then drops us back to the resort after we finish is via JetSki.
We decide to head into Viatape for dinner, so we take the boat transfer into town. As we had not booked anything we wandered around trying to find a restaurant. Unfortunately we discover that we should have booked a restaurant to pick us up, as the restaurants are all just out of town. At the jetty a local helps us by calling the yacht club to collect us.
After about an hour we eventually get to the yacht club for dinner. We are seated on the deck, where you can see directly into the water with all the fish swimming beneath us. I order the lamb cutlets and Michael orders the duck with mango sauce. For dessert we order the coconut pie, which is more like a dense cake with coconut flakes, very tasty :).
We head back to the dock and almost missed the 9.30 transfer but the driver sees us running and comes back to collect us.
We get back to the resort and head to bed.
