Day 1 - Monday 5th September
After a long set of flights (Melbourne - LA, LA - Boston, we arrived to our hotel at about 10.30pm, checked in with a receptionist from Adelaide ( who's been here 16 years) and then headed to the bar for some dinner. I had some Mahi Mahi fish tacos and a wine, then headed to long awaited bed.
Day 2 - Tuesday 6th September.
After a reasonably good night sleep we headed down to newberry street for breakfast, and settled on a cafe called Sonsie. Surprisingly the coffee was pretty good, and I had a nice granola for breakfast and Michael had a 'breakfast biscuit' which was a little like an English muffin with jalapeño and cheese and filled with bacon, egg, tomato and onion.
As the weather wasn't great today we went into the north face to buy me a raincoat, as I didn't have one to bring, got myself a nice bright red coat to keep the rain away.
We then headed off for a walk into Boston via the Charles river, up through west end, north end ( and little Italy) the financial district, feneuil hall ( Quincy markets) where we stopped for some shopping and lunch at wagamama, which Michael was very excited about given they went broke in Melbourne. After lunch we continued onto Chinatown, the theatre district and onto the Washington street mall and had a wander through Macy's.
Then we started heading back toward the hotel via the Boston common park and public gardens, the Copley square which had a cute farmers market. They local produce was incredible with massive sunflowers, huge whoopie pies, and other baked goodies, massive tomatoes and orange raspberries.
We the. Headed back to the hotel for a quick workout at the gym before heading to dinner at the Eastern standard on commonwealth avenue. Michael had 'one of the best steaks ever' and I ordered the baked rigatoni with lamb and pork squats and ricotta, which was delish! I could only finish about half though it was so big. The waitress we had must have like us, as she gave us a free glass of sparkling rose before we left, which was so yum.
Finishing up with a quiet Gin and tonic in the hotel bar to upload photos and write today's entry.
