Well where do we start !!!! It all starts with us trying to save a bit of money by getting a 24 hour coach service to Singapore from Krabi instead of flying all for the sake of 10 pounds. It started when the coach was late picking us up by half an hour. The journeyt started off seeming ok as we moved down to the boarder with Malaysia with no troubles. It was once we crossed the boarder the mini bus dropped us off in a town called Butterworth (not the most Malaysian name we have ever heard of). We were supposed to transfer to a bigger bus that would take us straight to Singapore but the bus was too full so we were told wed have to go to Kula Lumpa and change there. That was fine but we had no money (as its a different currency from Thailand and Singapore) We managed to get some money back as wed paid to get to Singapore not Kula Lumpa. The bus eventually left the station at 1 am after having been there for 4 hours. We then arrived at KL bus station at 6 in the morning where the price of the ticket was twice what we expected and we didnt have any money and neither did the 2 Canadians we were travelling with. We had to go outside and look for the cash point but we were told it was a taxi journey away and the banks were closed till 7. Luckly a taxi driver exchanged our Singapore dollars ( for the worlds worst exchange rate) we had for some Ringit so we could buy the coach ticket. We bought another coach ticket to Singapore which was supposed to leave at 7.30am. When we tried to get on the bus the little man said we had to wait to see if there was space as we didnt have a reserved seat. Once it was clear there was space on the bus we thought it was going to be ok but the little man gave our seats to a family as they offered him a backhander to which we were slightly anoyed about and told him but he pretended he didnt undersdtand what we were saying.
We were then told there was another bus coming but a few minutes later we were told there was no bus and our tickets were invalid. I (Liz) went on a rampage through the station back to the ticket man and asked him as polietly as i could for a refund which we got and another ticket to Johor which is just outside Singapore. This coach was supposed to leave at 8.30am but when we were told the platform to go to we were told the ticket was no good as the bus was going to Singapore. We tried to expalin we wanted to go to Singapore but wasnt gettig anywhere so we had to wait another half an hour for the bus which we finally got on and arrived in Johor at 1.30pm. We got a local bus to Singapore and had to go over the bridge and through customs and our firends had to have theri bags searched but eventually we arrived in Sinagpore more than 27 hours later. We are now at the guesthouse and waiting to go to the night Safari at the Zoo which should be fun.
Anyway we will write again tomorrow to tell you about the night safari.
Hope your all well
Lots of Love
Liz and Jack
