We are now in Singapore after (eventually) leaving Indonesia. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours, and it was a long and boring wait at the airport. The flight only took 2 hours - it was pretty bumpy, but at least it wasn't too long! When we landed at Singapore the rain was torrential. Bit of a shaky landing, but the pilot did well! When we got out of the plane and went to immigration, it was amazing - there was one person in front of us in the queue, lots of people working, then we went to get our bags and ours was the 3rd bag out! All in all took about 15 minutes to get from the plane to the taxi. We shared a taxi with an Italian guy called Luca, so it cost a bit less and he was going the same way as us.
Singapore has been good - did a lot of walking! We arrived later than expected and got to the hostel about midnight. It is a nice hostel, but it's strange being in a dorm again after just having private rooms - but a private room is too expensive here. I think in 2 days i've spent what would have lasted me about 2 weeks in Indonesia!!
We got up and took a walk to Raffles hotel. The place is pretty amazing. We went inside, but only i was allowed in! Jack had to wait outside because he had shorts on and the rules are you must be wearing trousers for men. We were able to go to other parts of the hotel too. We didn't get a Singapore Sling - it was $22 for one!!! Not even justifiable to share one either, so we just took a photo of the bar instead.
After that we walked to an electronics store as jack wants a new phone. didn't have much luck, i think all they sell here is laptops!
We walked down to Chinatown for lunch. It's really busy there, and we went to a street stall for some cheap eats - the restaurants were so expensive. I had Singapore Laksa (which was disgusting, had about 2 mouthfulls) and Jack had Singapore Noodles (which were not disgusting and he finished it all!). After that we wakled along to the merlion statue at the harbour. It was heaving with tourists so we took a quick photo and got on our way. We then went to Suncity to the fountain of wealth.
Later that night, we met Luca and his girlfriend in Little India for some dinner and drinks (Tiger Beer!). We went to a little place and all got Chicken Curry - it was delicious! Getting in preparation for the real thing when we get there tomorrow!
this morning we have just packed our bags and Jack has gone in search of a mobile phone again! I'm going to have a look for some t-shirts as i don't have much with sleeves and apparently if you don't want stared at or hassled in India, you must wear sleeves!
We're going to the airport early today as there is free internet, free foot massages, a nice cactus beer garden and we checked the schedule for the Airbus A380 and there should be a few of them taking off or landing today - can't wait to see that!
So, next time i write will be from Delhi - sure i'll have plenty to write about then!
Hope everyone is well
