We arrived in New York last night by greyhound bus and it went smoothly until we arrived at Nicole's apartment building (My friend from IMG in London and our home for the week). In my sleepy and rushed state I had written the address down as Apt.B but when we arrived we saw that there was a 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B etc etc. We find a flat one the ground floor which has just B on the door so we think that maybe I was right to just write Apt.B....no. We wander around the building for a while wondering what on earth we were going to do.
After about 20 minutes we meet a spanish lady who lives in the building and we start to explain our dilema, soon we have attracted the attention of another spanish speaking guy. We try to explain what Nicole looks like and when I say that she looks a bit like me (small, slim, red hair) they seem to know who we mean but neither of them know where she lives. Finally the lady says that she has internet on her phone and we can use it to find the email with the details. Thankfully this works and we eventually get to the right place. For a while it was looking like a night in a hotel because there aren't exactly internet cafes on every street corner in New York!
By the time we finally get there, there isn't much time to explore so we settle in and head to Greenwich Village for some dinner...in the tiniest restaurant we have ever seen! So small we had to share a table for two and there was no loo. We were all pretty tired and poor Nicole had a cold so after dinner we grabbed a bottle of wine, chilled out at her flat and met her two flatmates Megan and April.
There will be plenty of time for exploring!!
