First of all. This is silly but I have to finish my Indonesia-list since I forgot some funny facts:
-In Indonesia. if you're asking the way, make sure you ask at least 3 times from 3 different people cause they'll try to help you even if they don't know where the place you're looking for is
-Indonesians smoke everywhere: cafes, bars, restaurants, inside shopping malls, buses.. And it's not too nice to sit in a sweaty bus for hours next to a chain smoker..:/
-There's a death sentence for drugs but the goverment apparently doesn't list magic mushrooms as a drug:D
-One month there is not enough! I only saw Java and Sumatra, dying to come back to see Borneo, Kalimantan, Comodo, Sulawesi.. Indonesia is indeed a huge-ass country!
-I still feel like I forgot something but I don't think anyone cares..:P
Sooo back to the moment. I arrived in Singapore on thursday. So funny to suddenly be in a modern city like this, after a month of not wearing make-up and hardly even brushing my hair, wearing flipflops and always more of less dirty clothes. I suddenly feel the pressure to look in a mirror:D I was very lucky to be able to spend my first 2 nights with my friend Varun, who was my schoolmate back in Finland. He also had a fast laundry machine and hot water, ahhh the luxury! Of course I met my dear friend Nura immediately too, so nice to see her. It's been 2,5 years!
So yes I've been here before. It was my first time in Asia back then, I feel so nostalgic about it now! It's a very strange city/country compared to the ones surrounding it. Very rich, very highly developed, very clean, very multi-cultural. They have 4 official languages, btw, English, Chinese (Mandarin), Malay and Tamil. The way they speak English here though, in other words Singlish, I love it! So bizarre, so entertaining!
Okay my blogging is all over the place today...:S Back to New Years. I went to a couchsurfers party with Varun. It was a pyjamaparty at Changi beach, and we had a pillowfight at midnight. Very fun, also went swimming at night. Met some nice people and some annoying ones. Stayed there until morning and wasted the next day.
After that I've been just enjoying myself and meeting friends (Nura, Jerald, Varun, Gillian, Candice..), getting more and more nostalgic. I love this place and these people! Also I want to sincerely thank my current host Matthew for being so kind and helpful and for having me at his home. I feel like a very lucky girl!
Ps. For everyone asking, I'm working hard to have enough time to sit in front of a computer to upload my Indonesia pics, for the ones from Singapore.. you'll have to wait even longer:D
