Well, well, well, it seems I have not gone anywhere... but I am bored out of my skull so I guess you could count me going upstairs to my room as a journey. Now, instead of just thinking about all the packing I need to do, I am staring at it, hoping to God that the boxes will unpack and repack themselves. Yeah, I haven't unpacked from school yet. Bite me.
On the bright side I wasted countless minutes online findind a picture of Acton, and...tadah! I give you the Isaac Davis Memorial in the center of town. I was looking for a picture of Exchange Hall, which is wicked close to my house, but whatever, this is like a two minute drive. Closer than the Washington Monument from last entry.
I also went on a nice little hike up Nobscot, the old little hike we did at Merriam School when I was about 8 years old. I just did it on a whim, found the trail head on line, and started hiking with no map....which in retrospect might have been really dumb. I settled on a right, left, right, left patturn of turns in order to make it easier to return. Unfortunatly, after I successfully got to the top (whoohoo, screw you maps!) where it looked exactly the same as ten years ago I confidently reversed my right, left, rights...and then ended up back at the top. So...after going around in circiles for a good 20 minutes I abandoned my genius plan and started to walk aimlessly down. Which, after about twice the time it took me to hike up the damn thing, got me down back to my car. Where it started to rain and thunderstorm (is that a verb? I feel like it is)...a pretty good hike, and hopefully the next time I go, I will bring a map....and a brain.
In other news, I did manage to get a few hours in at the fine dining establishment that I work at--Applebee's, which I might add, seems to have gotten more mind numbingly annoying than before--and someone added far too much salt to all of the food. Anyway, I also worked a few hours at the local photo shop where I developed a couple rolls of B&W film for the owner. Three rolls in I realised I was working with expired developer. Whoops, say goodbye to those pictures of Europe, and masterfully composed still lifes. I felt bad that I had ruined those three rolls, but there is no expiration dates on ANY of the bottles, and some hooligan high schoolers where in there over the last month and ruined countless rolls and messed up my shady dark room. Damn I hate high schoolers. Though I really think you should admire their complete lack of responsibility. Apparently they left a roll, unprocessed sitting in water--two weeks later when I came in it was all gooey and nasty. Great kids, really great. They will go places with that type of character.
Shifts at Applebees have not been too bad, but I would just like to take the time to say that it is not okay to tip 10%. NO WHERE is that okay, I bring you your water, and your chicken fried chicken, please dont give me 5 dollars on 50. Not okay. You have screaming kids, I get it, you're stressed--but because you have screaming kids, that kicks it up to 20%. I don't think the majority of nonwaitressing America (or other nationalities for that matter) understand that those tips are ALL I get. I do not get paid minimum wage, I get a whopping 2.63 an hour which all gets taken away in taxes, so I see no paycheck, just the tips, which you have now screwed me over with. So, America, please have the decency to at least tip 15% if not 20+%.
That is all...more packing to be done, and definitly more organizing.
