Hong Kong, Hong Kong
It's currently 2.30am and i'm in the internet cafe (1 metre from my room in a rather minging hostel). This is our last night/morning in Hong Kong so i thought i'd post a wee blog.
On January 30th (our first day) we arrived at roughly 3pm and took a shuttle bus from the airport to Nathan Road. It was relatively easy to find the hostel although if i'm honest....it's a bit of a crap hole. Our room is ok though :D We have nice neighbours. That night we went to Temple Street night market and had a wander around the streets which was nice...gathered bearings and what not. (But it peed down)
On the 31st Jan, the rain had stopped and we had a rather rocky morning after the room was soaking wet off the shower and condensation and after holly smashed our only glass full of water, on the floor hahaha. Afterwards...we went for a walk to the harbour which is reeeally nice...very touristy so we didn't feel like the ethnic minority. Took a boat tour around Victoria harbour and Hong Kong Island which is really cool. Amazing skyline. Also went to the space museum where there is a machine which you get strapped into and it feels like your walking on the moon. There are a lot of signs saying 'happy new year' too, the Chinese new year is on the 7th of feb...unlucky, i'm going to miss it. That night we went to the Ladies market which is a really bright and colourful market full of lovely goods. Great place to practise your bargaining skills. (Holly got sunglassed which were supposed to be $290 for $50)haha.
Yesterday, the jetlag must have kicked in and we slept until 2pm :( We went to Hong Kong art museum. It has loads of interesting art/photography. We wrote chinesenew year messages on a big display (ours were theonly ones in english). Then we headed to a bar near the hostel.
Today...the weather is cack!! Went for lunch, checked out the park and went to....another market. It was fun though. Also met lots of our neighbours and they're all very nice. Tomorrow we will head to sydney by plane, quite early in the morning. I've checked the weather forecast and just for a change, the weather is s***e. (well, its raining).
Not sure if anyone has read this but if so i apologise about the spelling.,..this computer doesn't have the best keyboard :) Hope everyone/everything is well and i'll speak to you soon. Take care. Gem xxxx
