We got the train from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, quite painless and was actually quite a comfy 8hrs! Olly, Lucys friend from home who we were staying with us met us from the station. Olly is working in Singapore for 2 months so he was living in a nice serviced apartment! We were very excited for air con and duvets! haha. We weren't dissapointed, it was pure luxury compared to our shoebox with a bunk bed! It was lovely, we had our own bathroom and everything! I had just said to Lucy on the train that i could murder a Gin and Tonic (how old am i?!) ans guess what the only thing was that Olly had in his fridge? Yes, all ingredients for a G n T! Ended up having 3 large ones in the space of an hour! Then it was bedtime after chatting to Olly and ooing and aahing and our new home!
With the apartment came free breakie! So me and lucy filled up on free toast, cereal, eggs, orange juice, coffee and even tuna sandwiches could be found in the shaving dish next to the scrambled egg. No joke, they were yummy too! That day we got ourselves a pedicure in Holland Village then met up with Paola, a girl who lives in Singapore who is a friend of Lucy's sister.. we went to Orchard road (main expensive shopping area) then it rained so we headed into the malls! ao many of them with every shop you could imagine... i bought a (cheap) skirt and top. The next day we did washing! We had access to olly's washing machine and tumble dryer so i emptied my backpack and washed everything and even cleaned my the actual backpack! It needed it though, badly! That night Olly to us for dinner, we opted for Thai, i had a red duck curry was yum.. Olly bought a bottle of wine too, oh how ive missed it! Was a really nice evening and after dinner we went to a bar called Pump Room where they always have a Phillipino drag queen singing.. it was really fun!
Tuna sandwiches then the museum which as musuems go, was amazing! So interactive! You have your own headset so you can select what you want to listen too, personal events, or historical events? It takes you through Singapore history from the very beginning however so we did skip a couple of decades! Good though. Headed for lunch.. that took most of the day. I tried Sushi which i now like if only a few things! Chicken rice which we found in Malaysia is also very good.. we went out to Attica at night as it was Wednesday and every wednesday in Singapore is ladies night! Which means, free entry to clubs and free drinks! Attica was cool, and we danced the night away with Olly and Paola...
Had a huge lie in today then ended up just going shopping! It rained aswell so we dived into the malls... didnt buy anything just windowed shopped! Headed to Chinatown for dinner. Friday we went to the Botanic Gardens and then the Zoo! Was good fun, saw Proboscis monkeys for the first time which are the strangest looking animals! Polar bears and all the other usual creatures.. highlight was getting a photo with some orangutans! We did the night safari afterwards, Olly came and met us and did it with us. Saw about 3 animals but the whole thing was fun! Saturday went to Sentosa island which is just off Singapore, its basically a massive attraction.. it has 3 beaches which are all fake and the sand has been imported, it has a Universal Studios which is new this year and an Underwater World plus various other theme park like things! Was cool though, we went to one of the beaches and sat and drank beer all afternoon at Cafe del Mer! It was far too hot to walk around so what else were we to do? That night we went to the East Coast for Chilli crab which is a singapore tradition, it was soooo yummy- a whole crab in a tomatoey chilli sauce, very messy but so good! Brunch at the Shangri La hotel was definitley a highlight, Olly treated us which was so nice of him. There was every type of food you could imagine, and you could eat as much of it as you wanted/could! Heres what i ate: Salad with olives, prawns, papaya salad, goose liver terrine, mini hamburger. Roast beef, potatoes, asparagus. Had a little bit of curry (would be rude not too) Sushi, scallops, lobster, prawns. Mini desserts- blueberry cheesecake, brownie, creme brulee, some sort of delicous tart. Cheese- brie, cambozola, some sort of blue cheese. Plus free flowing cocktails and white wine spritzers. It was an experience in itself! Thank you Olly! Went to the cinema in the eve, considering we could barely move as we were so full! Left for Bali the next day.. sad to say bye to the air conned flat!
