So, didn't wake up as 5h as the alarm didn't ring!! I woke up alone by the anxiety of seeing machu pichu at 6h and we went running to catch the bus up as we had the ticket to enter Wayna Pichu mountain at 7h. Went up the snake road and there we were... Finally Machu Pichu after seeing so many photos and have listened so much by Julie and Jose and Arnaud. Finally I got there and I was impressed... A beautiful "city" so high and in the middle of breathtaking green mountains... How they got there and how they did it is a total mistery... Went to the Wayna Pichu almost directly passing by the alpacas (cousin of the lamas) and making some photos on the way. Got there and they make you sign when you go up and when you come down just in case! When I started my way up I understood why... A very high way up with very slippery stones and steps. We were lucky it wasn't raining and the misty clouds were starting to go away. Got to know how difficult it is to climb a mountain and even more when you are more than 3500 mt above sea level !! You start to feel that oxygen is not getting in as you wished and that every step seems you are carrying more that you should! But so much worth it!!!! The views are difficult to describe and it is beautiful how you meet different people from so many ages and nationalities...
Got to the top and just sat down with the rest of the amazed people (which were not many) and enjoyed the view... Worth staying there for a while as I decided to go all the way up with no stops (I'm a tough stubborn cookie!!). Met adeline at the top and we slowly started to make our way down savoring each moment...
At the bottom we did the whole thing. Went to every corner, saw every stone, saw the templo del sol, the condor stone, labyrinths and caves and went up to enjoy the close view and rest a while as it started to rain. The good thing was that there was almost no people there and the sun was hidden what helped the walking around.
To finish it up we went to see the Inca bridge, a stunning walk through a very narrow path that had incredible cliffs just beside...
Every corner had it's own magic and you could feel the energy of it all and that you were not alone in that feeling.
It started to rain again and we decided to walk down to Aguascalientes as we didn't walk the way up as I wanted, and now I was happy for that!! Even the way down with rain and cold felt incredibly difficult... Only stairs the whole way down and trying not to fall! Even today (3 days later) I feel my knees didn't really like that!!
Long way till we got back, had a delicious trucha al ajillo and we went to have a walk in the pueblo - noting really to see, completely full is shops and restaurants just for tourists... So we went to get our stuff, change into dry clothes and went to catch the train back.
Tired we slept the whole way to Ollantaytambo and from there to Cuzco where we managed to find a bar that served soup and went to Paveo's house to fall on the mattress we had.
