Medelllliiiiiinnn!!!!
Got here after 7h by bus from the Eje Cafetero to the city of the famous cocain dealer Pablo Escobar!!
What was once one of the most dangerous city in Colombia is now the city of the eternal spring, filled with Botero's sculptures and the only city in the country with metro.
We stayed with my friend's Audrey's friends Clara and Juan Gonzalo- really really nice couple that made us understand the true Colombian feeling if mi casa Es tu casa!! thanks a lot to you both who made our stay in this city so beautiful!!
More and more we are getting impressed with the kindness of the Colombian people, everyone one wants to helps us to get to the places and make us feel safe and at home. I could get used to this!!
Big city with lots of people and an incredibly busy commercial life. Shops snd walking salespeople who sell everything are all around and the pace of life is a quick one !
We found the park where the 23 sculptures of Botero are. Big bronze sculptures of amazing forms! Loved it!!
We spent here 2 days and enjoyed the buzz of the city, it's modern buildings and went on the cable car up to the national park. Here we were able to see the big difference of the very poor class as we passed above their houses. The more we went up the poorer the houses were. On the way we could also see some messages in the top of the houses of tolerance and love.
After we reached the top we entered the deep woods of the park with amazing high trees and different vegetations. We had a walk there and enjoyed the food of the market up there.
We had the most amazing talk with Juan Gonzalo who explained us all about the drug story in Colombia, the guerillas, the paramilitares and the former president Uribe that tried with no cost to irradicate these cocain groups and own the roads who had been completely blocked by them and made the colombians trapped in their own cities.
We also got to unterstand how while 1kg of coffee costs 5$, 1kg of cocain costs 80,000$ and this is how it all started!
With this off we go out of Medellin for our 13h ride to the Caribe into the colonial city of Cartagena!!
