Brace yourselves for a whirlwind tour of Fiji. We flew into Fiji on 13th Nov and got ourselves booked into the fiji experience for the 14th. We started off by hitting Natadola beach for some bodyboarding followed by sandboarding down the sakatoda sand dunes. I managed to board over my sunnies as they fell off during my descent, closely followed by me which wasn't nice. Still that didn't stop me from doing it again a few times. Great fun. Satyed at a place called Mango Bay which was gorgeous where we watched the sun set and drank Kava in the welcoming ceremony. Kava is the national drink over here and it numbs your body if you have too much of it and you have to get carted off home in a fiji taxi (wheelbarrow). Next stop was a visit too a village, a trek through the jungle followed by a leisurely river tube down the river in rubber tubes following the current and drinking a beer. Quality. We stayed in Suva that night and went out too a club where I was able too introduce the fiji public to a bit of dwarf dancing, which naturally went down well. No sign of any coo action. Next was a trip to the top of the island via a school visit, another village visit and more Kava, and billi billi rafting. The rafts are made out of bamboo shoots and mine fell apart during a race while I was stearing it and i got slam dunked in the river.Nice.
Next was the final day and we visited some mud pools and hot spas and drank loads of fiji bitter which had generally been sponsoring us throughout the trip. Great tour.
No time too sit and chill as we shot of to Robinson Crusoe island for 2 days. This place was great. Hammoks on the beach. Traditional dancing , and fire dancing. We joked that with my luck I'd get hit by a stray fire stick and there was no real surprise as some guy dropped it right near me and I just managed to get my leg out the way at the last minute. How funny. These two days were action packed and we met some great people during the midnight bonfires and drinking games. Class.
Next stop beachcomber island THE party island. I wasted no time by getting hammered the first night and pulling all the comedy dancing out the bag including such classics as the invisible skipping rope dance, and the new and improved ten pin bowling move. Brilliant. As a result I had burnt myself out for the next day, but it didn't stop me joing forces with the internationals and play the ozzie travelers at beach cricket. we smacked them round the island which wasn't hard as you could walk round it in less than 10 mins. Great fun.
Muggins had heat stroke for the next couple of days but once recovered I was back on my feet and Adz and I hit the Yasawas for 6 days. We travelled with 3 ozzies and 2 scummers who were all great fun. We hit The top island for a couple of nights and went to some underwater caves which were cool. Then spent the night on the Wanataki cruise ship which was an experience in itself. The bogs didn't work, it was spitting diesel out the back. The dorm smelt like a petrol station and the generator broke down a couple of times, but other than that it was good fun. Snorkling a plenty at Manta ray island, very good but the manter ray season had finished earlier so none of them were about.Gutted. Last stop was South sea island which was as a big as catherington roundabout. You could boot a football form one side to the other no problem. Great fun and more beer. Incidentally the snorkling here was the best I've seen. Class.
All this took us to the 1st of Dec where we flew back to Oz after totally floggin Fiji to death. Good trip.
