Day 2
Sunday- Newark/New york
On arrival the task begins Imigration wow this is a big wait waiting in line until we get our passport checked and finger prints taken 20 questions then out this took up to 1hr waiting in line then were through now baggage pick up no 5 then again through another line up with the luggage then out into arrivals we both went outside to collect our taxi into the big apple but once out side the taxi rank had been sectioned off due to a bomb threat/Welcome to America, we where asked if we wanted a cab i was'nt sure but Martyn thought it would be ok so $65 was offered the guy to start with was a bit distant but as the journey got on the way he tuned out to seem like a good guy we all spoke about world politics football/soccer.
Once arrived in New york city and checked into the Hampton inn chelsea Manhatten we both checked in room clean and tidy the room was up on the 20th floor the view was fantastic looking over towards the brooklyn bridge and east river when light up the view was like a postcard. We then headed toward the pick up hotel so we new were to go for our morning pick up . Walking next towards time square what a sight taking pictures along the way this is just wahat you see on the telly box and the movies and here I'am a guy from Guernsey walking in the footsteps of history fantastic. We both decided that an open top bus tour would be value for money it certainly was taken us through and past sights like Macy's Broadway Empire state building Madison square garden Ground zero. plus many more the tour lasted 2 1/2 hrs with the guide calling us Hey English? the guy was full of knowledge weather it was true or not he was entertaining and it was fun. Once dropped off we walked back to the hotel we took a wrong turning on the way back but it was cool as the roads are grid lay out so it was easy to get right back on track again after stopping off along the way to collect nick nacks it was back to the hotel for some shut eye.
