Ben & Zella's travels
Hello all
We arrived in Singapore after a 6 hour bus ride from KL, the most luxurious bus ever must have known it was Zella's bday. We were also joined on the journey by a few monks in the orange robes. Watching them go through customs was a sight, didn't realise they would have passports.
We arrived in Singapore and got to the hostel which was pretty good with a huge dorm and free internet pool table etc. It is based in little India so the smell of Curry as soon as you exit the building.
Zella and i went to Raffles for the customary Singapore sling which was very tasty and Zella's bday treat. Raffles Long bar was a good experience with lots of tourists just throwing monkey nut shells on the floor the complete opposite to being fined 1000 dollars if you smoke or eat and drink on the MRT (their underground).
The next day we both felt tired and a bit bored of Singapore, all it is is Shopping mall after shopping mall, which is fine if you have the money and space in the rucksack which neither of us have. That evening we decided to just go to the cineam and see the da vinci code, not bad i presume the book would be better but as usual the cinema was cheaper than the UK as everything seems to be!
Tuesday is the day we fly to Sydney so we thought we would round off SIngapore with a river cruise which was quite memorable as we got a trishaw (3 wheeled taxi bike) to take us to the pier about 400 metres away, too hot to walk. We agreed with the driver 3 dollars to take us there which he happily agreed to but then proceded to take us all around the city which was fun to see some of the sites and then he took us to the wrong point so we had to sexplain again where we wanted to go. We got to the proper place, the original Raffles landing site and he then said 30 dollars! obviously we said no deal sunshine but he then sat opposite us for the next 20mins whilst we waited for the boat and he kept saying okay then 20 dollars. Luckily he then rode off and we took the v.peaceful ride down the river to see some of the sites which was the most interesting thing we did in Singapore bar the Long bar.
After the boat ride i spotted the Trishaw man again so Zella and i trotted on so as to avoid him. We then had a relaxing drink by the river and then a look around the china town and then onto another shopping mall for some food. Was Chinese v.tasty, we then hopped onto the MRT for the next leg of our adventure off to Sydney.
Will update you in due course
Love to all
