Day - 21 Boston to New York
Up at a reasonable time, packed, showered and hat breakfast in time to leave by 10am! Natalie and I shared at taxi to South Station as she was catching the bus and me the train, which went from the same location in downtown Boston!!
The train journey was lovely, some of the places we went pass I really liked!! Any south of Kingston, especially south Norwalk and Northport! It was a mixture of 'Murder She Wrote' and 'Dawsons Creek' with the houses by the water with their own jetty and the quaint little towns!!
On my way to NY, I had an old feeling about the hostel I had booked! I didn't like the reviews on the Internet, so I called the HI NY hostel and asked if they had any vacancies!! YES!! for tonight only but they may get a cancellation for the other days! So for now I'm staying in a lovely place but living one day at a time!!
Once all booked into the hostel I headed straight down to Te Square and onto the end of the TKTS line for theatre tixs! I got 1 for Spiderman! So I had dinner at Applebees I was expecting cheaper prices but no! And to my surprise Justin Martin calls and tells me he is in NY too and would love to catch up tomorrow!! Now that's what I call a blast from the past and a very pleasant surprise!!!
Spiderman - well where do I start!! I got great seats!! The show is clunky with no seamless continuity! This is mainly because of the set, a classic case of trying why to hard to produce a simple but yet not affective design! The aerial stuff was fantastic some of the best I have seen!! I felt sorry for the actors as there was only so much u could do with the songs and words! It was not powerful at all!! It was stuck in nothingness, not comic bookie in the language enough or it was too much! The style whatever it was, was not clear!! ( maybe I should see more shows and blog about them!! My new job)
But I'm really glad that I saw it!! Tomorrow maybe Follies or something else!! Anything could happen in a big city!!!
