Time to catch up on Tuesday's events: Started the day with a quick breakfast in Munising, then on our way to the Oswald Bear Ranch. They have approx. 24 bear on site. We walked around a couple enclosures, and got a huge kick out of watching a couple bears "play" in a watering hole. It was hot & humid, so we decided air conditioning was a bigger priority than the rest of the bears!
Left there and went to Tahquamenon State Park to see the Tahquamenon Upper Falls. Walked well over a half mile to see these, but WOW! They put out the second largest amount of water overflow this side of the Rockies. Only Niagara is larger, several times larger. Very cool. We then hit the Lower Falls, and walked back to them. Evidently we've starting a cardio program on this trip!
On to Whitefish Point, where the Shipwreck Museum is located. We didn't have time for the museum, but I did walk down to Lake Superior and stick my feet in! It was 59 degrees…..needless to say, I wasn't in there long! The beach is made up of sand and agate rocks, which can be collected. My pockets were full enough; my shorts were dragging down when I climbed back up the beach! This is also the site closed to where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down.
We headed to Manistique, for an appt at the local dealership for tire rotation and oil change, while I was silently worrying about our next motel. The Star Motel was making me nervous! We stepped back in time again; however this was a great place. So clean & fresh! We had a room in the angle of the building, which gave us a lot of space. Sweet!
We spent the evening with Roger & Barbara Paulman, at their hone, Sishwa Lodge. It was beautiful. They have a full deck across the house, facing Lake Michigan. They were extremely gracious, inviting us for dinner.
Back to the Star Motel and bed!
