Markina-Xemein to Gernika 26km

6:30 woke up
7:30 on the camino
the girl who took the bed above me came back to albergue at around midnight. as the door was locked she rang the bell a few times and woke everybody up! she cut the line when the hospitaleiro started to take registration. what a girl!
as there is no cafe open at this time, decided to walk 5km for breakfast.
8:40 arrived at the village. they said the bar will open at 9, so we all waited. 9:15 no sigh of opening the bar. decided to continue walking.
11:30 arrived at next town. had a big brunch. they were started talking about the accommodation in Gernika. they told that there is no albergue in Gernika...
after a big brunch, I was in full energy. it was so hot that a lot of pilgrims were exhausted but as for me it was nothing compare to summer in my hometown with humidity.
I laid down on the bench in shade by church. nice breeze...
back to camino after 20 mins rest.
15:30 arrived in Gernika. went to tourist info and asked about the place to stay. hostel was 20 euro.. so I decided to stay in the hotel where offer 30 euro with breakfast and meal(dinner) for single use in double room. it was 20 euro if you share with someone. I decided to treat myself got a room for my own. had a meal soon after and showered.
sightseeing in Gernika was quite rich. assembly house, basque museum and replica of the famous Picasso's Gernika.
As I got a room for myself tonight I had beer and snacks in the room with basque tv as background pv.
Julia was here also but she got a heat stroke:(
heat & ice treatment, massage.
nobody will disturb me tonight. will sleep well tonight...
