Lake Bled, as Anne Brown will tell you, is such a little gem of a place. We saw it in excellent conditions, too, without the hordes of tourists who must descend in July and August. It´s a real chocolate box place, and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet time there, walking round the whole lake. You can also imagine it frozen over in winter, and people skating out to the church on the little island. We even climbed up a hill (tough going in places!!) to take this photo.
The train journey from Bled to Salzburg must stand out as the most scenic journey we´ve done. I can´t help but admire the engineering feats to have set a railway half way up a mountain so that we could look up and see snsow covered tops and then down and see lovely houses/chalets with flowers on balconies away in the low distance.
Accommodation continues to be good. Thanks for your messages. It´s exciting to see them appear to us in all the different places, and from different places, too! Nice to know Amalfi is good, too. We thought we could have waved across the sea to you when we were in Dubrovnik! Good to see dental nurses are not so overworked in surgery or garden that they can´t find time to read blogs!
