Well, today is our last day here :(. Today we met our tour bus at 9 am; we had the same bus driver, Gus. We had three stops scheduled, the first was Dunfirmline Abbey. This is the chapel which is the final resting place of Robert the Bruce. When we arrived we walked around the church, and I noticed the tombstones, people died at such young ages! Some of the tombstones dated all the way back to the 1800's. The church was astonishing, it had huge pillars in the middle, and huge stained glass windows. But, Robert the Bruce's tomb was settled inside of the smaller chapel. In the chapel there was a small monument with his tomb placed on the bottom.
When we left, Gus took us to Sterling Castle. It wasn't as big as the Edinburgh Castle, but it was still just as beautiful. It was situated the same way, they were both on hills. We took a guided tour, where we were guided to the Great Dining Hall. Our tour guide told us about the history involving the different stained glass windows. The glass had different family crest on them, all having different meanings. After we went off on our own a little and explored the castle, we grabbed a quick lunch and got ready for our next tour.
Roslyn Chapel was very old, you could look at the stone and its age was very visible. When we walked inside after taking a few pictures, I noticed all of the carvings in the Chapel. There was really not a specific order of the various carvings, they were all just scattered around. We heard about the (known) history of the chapel, and some of the beliefs about the chapel.
Then we head back to the Royal Mile, and Stephanie and I took our final walk down the Royal Mile. We had dinner before heading back to the hotel. Mrs. Sutherland met us at the hotel to say our final good byes, just before we headed to our room for our last night's sleep in Edinburgh.
