My asian adventure has now begun. Arrived in Singapore on the 19th july and met up with Becki and Jordon (lived together in Bondi). For the first night we stayed in little india which was an experience, as everything is very busy and colorful. We had one full day to look around so made the most of chinatown and orchard road shopping. Went to sunteck city complex to see the largest water fountain in the world and got there just in time to see the laser show. In the evening we spruced up and went for a singapore sling in the famous Raffles Hotel, while throwing our nut shells on the floor! After this we headed to the bars of clarke quay and finished by dancing the night away in ministry of Sounds. Kind of surreal as it looks like a european club but with lots of asian people using glow sticks. Absolutely loved my time in Singapore and only wish i could have stayed longer!
Headed to Kuala Lumpur on the 21nd, took a 5 hour journey from singapore on a bus that was so cold from the air con we all had jumpers and socks on! KL is not as nice as singapore but the twin towers at night were a spectacular sight and managed to get my nails done so no complaints! Our hotel was a little unusual and we found ourselves sharing the breakfast hall with a university rugby team from south africa.
After a hair-raising journey through the malaysian hills we got to the Cameron Highlands. A small village in the middle of nowhere but very friendly and seems to be full of danish people! Our room looked like a pig shed from the outside but was surprisingly nice on the inside. On our first full day there we took a jungle walk which we thought would be quite nice, after walking solidly for 4 hours through the jungle in the malaysian heat i never thought i would see the end. We did however manage to see a wild monkey swinging from the trees above us and then treated ourselves to a massage!
On our second day we went on a countryside tour. We stopped at a chinese temple, rose gardens with spectacular views, a strawberry farm where all we could do was get off the bus to buy fresh strawberries or strawberry ice cream - i chose the ice cream! Our guide also took us to see BOH tea factory where we got to see the tea making process and enjoy a nice cup of rosie lee looking out at the tea fields. My favorite place had to be the butterfly farm where we got to hold a number of scary looking creatures and see poisonous snakes and spiders in cages. The butterflies were massive and walking through their enclosure was a little daunting. Finished our time in the cameron highlands with a nice reflexology foot massage!
