Just arrived at the airport waiting for another night flight to Brisbane after 3 nights in Singapore. First impressions of Singapore weren't brilliant but luckily it redeemed itself, we put it down to the long flight as we were tired and not in the best of moods.
Day 2 in the life of Sam and Dani: It was alot better, we got a really nice breakfast then set off to find Orchard Road. On route we found Clarke Keys which is where the first Asian Hooters can be found, very strange seeing Asian girls in Hooters outfits! We found the first of many, many malls- Sinagpore is literally full of them! Then we found Chijmes which is an old nunery converted into bars and restaurants. It is very pretty, and we snook into the church where it was set up for a big wedding. When we finally got to Orchard Road we found a nice mall that had decent shops and there was a thai food festival. We ALMOST tried some noodles but decided not to bother cos it had fish in. Luckily in this mall we found some anti-frizz hair serum as Sam's hair was getting bigger and bigger. Dani thinks she is Monica in disguise, soon to be cousin IT as the hair grows!
While we were walking along minding our own business we got dragged into a crazy ass business convention where we were bombarded with excited Sinaporeans dressed as Star trek, aliens and cowboys trying to get us involved in silly games. Obviously it would be rude not to participate so we ended up leaving with a million leaflets, $2 each after the baloon popping game, foot deodourisers after the straw throwing game, crackers and a pen after shotting the alien, but the best prize of all was Sam winning a carrot from the carrot grating game.. biggest carrot in the world, just what every traveller needs! When we finally escaped we continued on Orchard Road but couldn't cope with the never ending malls (would have been nice if we could afford clothes or had room for anything, sniff), so we caught the bus to Little India.
We didnt really like Little India and the air con wasn't upto scratch (non-existant1), the only good thing was the henna tatoos which Dani got on her foot. Due to our dislike of this area we went via China Town on the way back to the hotel to see if it was any better than the night before, luckily it was. After a much needed nap we went out to eat, everywhere in Singapore is so expensive but luckily theres a food festival on so we got to try different things there and drank sangria and singapore slings =) We had them here cos there was a better atmosphere and was cheaper than Raffles so we could have more =) thanks Uncle Terry and Auntie Millie. Met up with a couple of lads and had drinks by the river, all in all a good day!
Day 3 in the life of Sam and Dani: Got up for breakfast but didnt feel too good after the late night so went back to bed for a power nap, unfortunately this turned into a 4 hour snooze so we wasted most of the sun =s In the evening we went on the night safari which was pretty cool, Sam got dragged up on the stage with some crazy tribal dancers, having to blow darts out of a pipe at balloons they were holding in dodgy places! Afterwards we went strolling through Singapore, having some more of our fav new drinks the Singapore Slings.
Day 4 in the life of Sam and Dani: Got an invite to spend the day at the boys apartment so checked out of the hotel and headed over and spent the day by the pool. Got sunburnt, had a few drinks then headed of to the airport
