Left Budapest this morning with another Lajos, one of the managers of the little Hotel Orion where we stayed. Another spectacularly clear day. We've had amazing weather for this trip, as has all of Europe apparently, record setting warmth. Another fun and productive trip: 199 species, 103 new for us. Plus learning about an area of the world we knew so little about and the aftermath of WWII from the losers’ perspective.
Flying Air France to Paris, we weren’t sure if we’d be affected by a strike called Monday and Tuesday, but all has gone smoothly. Layover in Paris is like walking into another world of style, upscale shops, a small art exhibit from Centre Pompidou; trendy restrooms in orange with minimalist fixtures, and a living wall outside the terminal’s end window; much more pleasant to look at than the tarmac.
Arrived in Boston in fog and cool temperatures, gratefully making the bus to Portland in time.

Cousin Kermit Ah, the end of your European birding excursion and your journey thru two key countries in Eastern Europe. No less than 103 new species of birds for the two of you. Congratulations! And, now, welcome home! Rest up ahead of your next big adventure, which might well soon be that of becoming grandparents.
Char I’m following in your footsteps this morning. Well done on the number of new species!
Tracey hey, we were temporarily in the same state again!!! Glad you are home again. A little time to rest up. Another amazing trip!!
Cousin Kermit Meant to say I really like the pic of the living wall outside the terminal's end window at the Paris airport. Sure beats concrete and metal.
