My Oral English today was awesome. We were talking about 'Stress' and they got so into it, and actual discussions were taking place in the class! It helped that I had Benson and Betty back - two very talkative students, and they kinda break the ice for the students.
I found out that if you want to graduate from the best University here in China (the name of it slips my mind now...) you have to run a 3000m track! Whaaat is that all about?! Apparently it's meant to inspire the students to concentrate on something other than studying. Crazy crazy.
That's my only proper class today, and I've got Life Club later (i'll try and get some photos!!).
I got a reply from the guy I e-mailed at the weekend about our pay and everything. He wasn't happy. He said that my tone in the e-mails made him feel uncomfortable. He wasn't very helpful actually, the only question he answered was what we're getting paid. But I'm worried about that being eaten up by the exchange rate : Not cool. I told him he needs to change his website though! Also he listed what the 300quid was for... but that made it worse, because everything he listed (apart from the two meetings in London), Paul got for free. I don't think those meetings were worth 150 each, that's for damn sure. I told him that too, but of course, in more polite terms. We'll see what happens. I doubt I'm going to get anything out of him.. but whatever. He needs to know that the service is crap.
It's VERY hot here today, and the sun is actually blazing for once. I went outside to the food market for my lunch (some very nice sweet seaseme bread) and I almost DIED. Ahh well, lots of liquids!
We got new registers in the office today, I now own 8 pink folders, all with my name on! I felt very important haha :) I'm an official teacher! Woop! Ahh small minds...
Ooh I just did a Placement Test. Had a 15 year old boy who wants to go study in Germany! I asked him why he wanted to go there, what he did in his free time, and how he felt about his exams. He did well, there's a lot of local accent in his English, and when I asked him "what town in Germany are you going to?" he said "It's in Europe". But overall, he was good and I think he's going to be put into Oral English which will be good for him :) Let's hope he does ok!
Got just over an hour untill Life Club so I'm going to tweak the presentation, and think of some games to play! Hopefully I'll get some good pictures again, so I'll probably upload those later!
