Today's been a bit of a difficult day. On our schedule I was put down as having to 'observe' two classes today, which is what we did when we first arrived here. When I asked Ivy, the boss, about it, she said she'd had some negative feedback about the classes I'd taught last week, so she wanted me to observe two other teachers, to try and improve.
Apparently I speak too fast, don't play enough games, and the kids aren't comfortable with me. It was a real blow hearing that, but I took it onboard, looked at the different way that the other teachers handled the kids, and hopefully it'll improve my own teaching! Everyones gotta be able to take constructive criticism right?
Other than that, it's been ok though. Nothing too trying. I have another 'Get Ready' class tomorrow though that I'm dreading. It's a group of teenagers who are preparing to study abroad etc, and instead of teaching, we need to encourage debate. I really struggled last week, but I'm hoping I'll do better tomorrow! We shall see...
We had a staff meeting this morning to discuss the start of the summer school here next week... we take onboard more kids now that the schools are starting to break up. We've (all of the foreign teachers) have had to prepare a presentation about a certain country, and we give talks about it - talking about culture/traditions/food/animals/capital city etc, and I got lucky and was given England! I'm looking forward to that, but mine isn't untill the 27th July, so I have a while to prepare!
I attempted to upload photos on here, but it won't allow me. So for those of you not on Facebook (which is where I'll be putting the majority of the photos) drop me an e-mail if you want to see my pictures, and I'll set up a photobucket account or something so you can see. It'd be a shame if you didn't!!
Off for now to cook some beef noodles and chill out for the evening :) Toodles!

Mum Good talk this morning. Enjoy the next batch of victims...I mean, students
Dad Don't forget that you are also there to learm, make the most of the opportunity. Don't forget to teach them about the home of football - SW6!
Helen Good for you - teaching is a nightmare to start with (and I should know!) - sounds like you're really working hard on it. Have you learned any interesting Mandarin words yet?
Chelski Mum - at least I'm improving now! Dad - I'm learning lots, and really starting to appreciate it. And also, already had a Chelsea discussion, and I'm bringing in my flag to one of my classes! Helen - Not anything interesting yet, but I can say 'hello', 'thank-you' and 'sorry' which is a start! I'll improve...!!
