Well it's another massively hot and sticky morning here in Jinan! It's not even 10am and people are sweating all over the place.
Mark (my South African flatmate) and I are down in the school a bit earlier than normal to try and sort out the problems i've been having with getting internet for my laptop. My normal laptop broke just before coming out here so we bought a cheap old one for me to bring, but now that's come back to bite me in the behind - as it's so old it doesn't have the right connection for the internet cable! We're looking at other options though, and the Chinese IT guys are figuring it out. For now, the school's computers shall have to do!
Paul and I have a meeting with the school's head teacher at 10am, to be introduced into the way of teaching, get some advice etc. Then after that, I have a free day! I might go and browse some of the shops in the city, everything is ridiculously cheap over here, I'll have to keep telling myself not to go overboard! There's still a weight limit on the way baaack...!
I'm looking forward to my first day of actual teaching which looks like it's going to be Wednesday or Friday. Can't wait to meet the kids I'll be with and things, they're definitely going to be the reason I enjoy this experience. It was so very difficult when I first got here, but I think I'll be ok.
I don't know how people travel all the time though, I'm only gone for these 2 months, but I already miss things and people so much! But I am glad I went for it.
I think I ate goat for the first time last night... the older teachers we were with ordered and we just trust what they get. It was quite tasty though, just tasted like tough lamb haha. Managed to avoid any cat or dog so far, but they do sell some funny stuff. Even in the Wal-Mart over here, there's turtle to buy... not cool. As a diver, I felt awful for the poor things! (They keep all the seafood live, untill they're bought. Not in good conditions though!)
Well it's almost 10, so I best be off. But I shall update more soon :)
