Friends vs Family Guy
The power cut out in our room last night so the fan switched off and the room turned into an oven! We asked the lady in the reception this morning if it was something that happened often, she said no, someone came in after their night out and flicked the fuse box instead of the light switch, bloody idiot!
We checked out the town today, it's not how we expected. It's more built up, especially after passing all the rural country side on the coach yesterday. It's almost like the town was built for the tourists, lots of guest houses, lively and chilled out bars all offering cheap alcohol buckets, every restaurant has the low tables and cushions to sit on which I love, and they all have either the sitcom 'Friends' or 'Family Guy' playing. We also noticed that a lot of the tourists here have brightly coloured bands on and old neon paint on their bodies. It was obvious that this town was somewhere to party. All the shops were selling clothing branded with the Tubing logo, sun glasses, bikinis and the usual tat. Chris really wants to find a pair of new shorts and a couple of vests but so far we haven't found any shorts in his size. I've already written a list in my head of the stuff I want to buy but Chris wont let me get anything lol. I'll get my way in the end ;-D
By 4pm we had had enough of 'Friends' so decided to check out the tubing. We didn't bother getting a tube because it was late and apparently you can pick one up at the river cheaper than the shop.
We shared a tuk tuk with some other people that had already been there a few times. They told us people usually start at 1pm so by now everyone would be smashed. And they were right, everyone was, people were dancing on tables holding buckets of alcohol in the air, guys were playing beer pong, girls were singing at the top of their lungs, almost everyone wore a vest with the tubing logo on and everyone was covered in neon paint. We stood at the top of the river bank and could see about five bars. We were both expecting the bars to be spaced out a lot more down the river but these bars were close enough to swim between. The river was low and a few rocks were showing around the bars edges, I guess this is where most accidents happen from drunk idiots jumping off the sides.
We went down into the busiest bar, the quieter ones were already packing up so we decided to stay for only a couple and come back at 1pm tomorrow. The bar had a zip wire which Chris couldn't wait to have a go on. He did a flip and bruised his shine as he hit the water. He tried to persuade me to have a go but I hadn't had enough to drink yet. Maybe tomorrow instead.
A couple turned into a few, I started to feel really tipsy by the time we got back into town so we went for dinner and finished the night in a 'Friends' bar.
