Well we were glad to get down from the Cameron Highlands!
It was getting a bit too cold there for us we wanted to be in the sun again. We managed to change our flight so we are now flying out on the 22nd August to Perth.
The coach journey down from the highlands made me feel a bit sick. There were lots of windey roads and it took us 1 1/2 hours to get down so I was glad when we were on the bottom. The drivers are crazy here, they think nothing of overtaking on a blind bend, we nearly saw a very bad crash.
We took a day trip when we were up there. It was a country side tour of the highlands. They took us to various places like a rose garden with a brilliant look out from the top of the hill where you can see all over the highlands. We also went to the Boh tea plantations which were beautiful, we had a really good cup of tea up there. We went to Ye Old Smoke House where we had a cream tea. Everything is about tea up here.
We found a good Malaysian dish called chicken clay pot, I think they just throw chicken, rice and some spices into a clay pot and slow cook it. We moved onto Kuala Lumpur for four nights. We went shopping there!!!!! We found a shopping mall with a roller coaster inside. All the shopping malls are in walking distance from each other so you can just go from one to the other - it's great. We went up the KL tower where you get a 360 degree view of KL but unfortunatley it was a bit cloudy when we went up so we couldn't see very far.
The next day we went to the Petronas Towers. They hand out free tickets but you have to get there before 8.00am. We qued up for 1 1/2 hours but we finally got in. The ticket just takes you up to the skybridge so you don't go up as far as you do in the KL tower but it was still impressive.
After being in KL for a few days we caught a bus to Melacca. It is the most historical town in Malaysia. Everyone is really friendly here someone even called Liam 'John', I don't know why I think he just wanted to say hello. The streets are lined with museum after museum, we went to five of them and after we felt like we had been on a school trip. Some of it was interesting though, Liam loved the Malaysian Navy Museum as they had an old war ship with guns. He was like a 6 year old jumping around the ship! There was a good food court just by where we are staying where we got really good cheep food.
We managed to get a bus ticket to Singapore. It's not as easy to get around here as it is in Thailand. In Thailand you would be able to book it through your guest house but here you have to do it yourself which sometimes isn't easy. The bus stop was a good 15 Minute taxi ride away. Luckily the man at our guest house knew a taxi driver who would go and buy our ticket for us before he came to pick us up in the morning and it didn't cost anything extra.
When we arrived in Singaopre we had about 4 or 5 different places we could stay. When we got there they were all full. We spent ages walking around Singapore looking for a place. We got one in China town, we booked it for 3 nights but we only stayed for 1 as it was horrible. It was really smelly. We managed to book another place over the internet for the next few nights. We are staying just out side Little India which is much nicer and it's costing us less.
We had a lovely day yesterday. We went to Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. We were told by loads of people we met to go and visit it. It was as good as what everyone had said. Hardly any of the animals are in cages even the lions and tigers, they just build a massive moat around there enclosure so they can't get out. There are even monkeys in the trees above you. We got some really good photos so have a look when we manage to get them on.
We are getting ready to fly out tomorrow to Perth. We have got to be at the airport for 6.00am so an early night tonight.
We are going to Raffles for a Singapore Sling now.
Congratulations to Lisa and Andy who have just announced Lisa is 3 months pregnant. Yeahhhh xxx
Lots of love Carey and Liam
