Arrived safely onto the Island of Koh Chang after an easy journey involving a 5 hour bus, 1 hour wait and 1 hour ferry. We decided to splash out for 4 nights (£30 a night) so we are staying in a lovely resort called Ramayana, with a lovely pool, outdoor jacuzzi and spacious jungle surroundings.
We arrived in time for dinner, although our hotel is fairly pricey for food so we decided to have a wonder 10 minutes down the road, hoping to find somewhere cheap to eat, as we aren’t near any towns. We came across a noisy night market, where Nat eventually managed to find something veggie.. a papaya salad and Chris some fried chicken. We have now established that this night market also plays loud annoying music till late every day.
After enjoying our free continental breakfast, we enjoyed spending our first full day making the most of the free hotel shuttles to the 2 local beaches- both of which had beautiful clear blue warm water and lovely soft sand. Spent lots of time in the sea and exploring the little towns. Unfortunately the meals are more pricey in town too (£4-6 a meal), but luckily we found yet another night market setting up next to the beach selling local meals for £1.30 each - big portions which tasted delicious! We ate it on the beach watching the sunset - was a good travellers moment!
Our second full day today was spent on a boat visiting 4 islands snorkelling! Had a tasty lunch on the boat and enjoyed seeing lots of little fishes. We also treated ourselves to some western food at our hotel restaurant (£5 pizza!) accompanied by a not so brilliant Thai singer
Final full day tomorrow then off to Cambodia!
