We were sad to say our goodbyes to Cambodia yesterday as we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks there - such a friendly, welcoming country despite having suffered from such a recent tragic history. We recommend a visit to Cambodia!
However we are glad to be writing this post from our bed, following a 20 hour journey yesterday/today to the Philippines. We left Battambang at 2pm for a 4 hour bus, and then spent the rest of the evening on 2 flights and a 5 hour wait at 2am in the airport - but that’s all part of the travelling fun! The Philippenes is a Catholic country and they start celebrating Christmas in September, so our journey was made slightly better with ladies singing Christmas carols and lots of big decorated Christmas trees at the airport
Chris had lovely views of the islands from his window seat of the plane (Nats eye mask remained on) as we finally arrived safely to our first destination - Puerto Princesa in Palawan.
After only a few hours of terrible sleep last night we were fortunate enough to be allowed to check in at 10 this morning for a well needed power nap
Only staying in Puerto Princesa one night as not a particularly nice place and not much to do. Spent the afternoon trying to find something vegetarian for Nat to eat in the big mall, which is going to be a struggle for the next 20 days as all they eat is meat. Ended up at the supermarket.. But thanks to trip advisor, we found a lovely vegetarian restaurant for dinner where Chris enjoyed his favourite vegetarian meal of the trip so far - Mexican tostadas!
Off on another 3 hour bus tomorrow (if all goes to plan) to Port Barton as we make our way up North to El Nido
