Arrived on Gili Meno today - (the quieter, honeymoon island), only a 10 minute boat ride away.
Fairly similar in beach style but much less people and not so many places to eat or drink.
We had booked a nice ‘villa’ (£40 a night compared to previous £10) rather than hostel for the next 2 nights as a honeymoon treat.
Nice to have a normal towel and not a fast drying one that doesn’t actually dry fast or dry you.
Nat was pleased she finally got a day to fit some sunbathing in. Spent a few hours sunbathing on the beach - so windy that our umbrella blew very high about 200m and fell on someone.. means you get a tan without knowing it though which is always great.
Only a few patches of sunburn and 1 mosquito bite so far so doing well!
Had a nice lunch with an ocean view. Nat was adventurous and decided to try a ‘jaffle’ not knowing really what it was.. turns out it was a toastie, and a delicious one filled with cheese, egg and tomato!
Walked around half the island exploring and came across a turtle sanctuary with lots of 5-7 month old turtles in - a man spends his days collecting eggs and looking after the turtles. We donated £9 (what it costs him to run the place for w day) and got to release one into the ocean - we named him Archie and watched him eventually swim into the big blue.
Headed out for dinner to a lovely homestay - young man cooking in his kitchen - lovey food (see pics) - veg curry, chicken noodles, 3 drinks and a tip all for £7!
We were looking forward to a massage but unfortunately quite a bit more expensive here so will have to wait..
Looking forward to another day chilling here tomorrow and catching some more rays
